Is visitor data collected with Scan2Lead in compliance with data protection regulations?

Does Scan2Lead fulfil the requirements of the GDPR? Can the recorded contacts be contacted by email after the trade fair? Can newsletters be sent to them? The topic of data protection is playing an increasingly important role for visitors, exhibitors and organisers. Read here why you can use Scan2Lead to record visitor data in full compliance with data protection regulations.

DOES SCAN2LEAD FULFIL THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE DSGVO?

In addition to all measures for the technical implementation of a high level of data protection, every trade fair visitor is informed by the organiser during registration (data protection and general terms and conditions) that their data may be passed on to exhibitors as part of lead tracking.

Visitors also actively hold out their admission badge for scanning during each individual scanning process and, through this action ("implied action"), to document their consent for their personal data to be passed on to the respective exhibitor. This process design has been reviewed and confirmed by several specialised lawyers.

If the visitor generally objects to their data being passed on, the data record will be blocked in the Scan2Lead database and you as the exhibitor will see a message "no data available" or similar. The visitor can object to the transfer of data both during registration and at a later date. As an exhibitor, you therefore have the security of receiving the personal contact data of your visitors in compliance with the law.

CAN THE VISITOR DATA COLLECTED BE USED FOR NEWSLETTERS?

One of the biggest advantages of digital lead capture is the faster and qualified follow-up after the trade fair. You can use the captured visitor data to thank your visitors for their visit to your stand and send them the requested documents, offers or information.

For the inclusion of the scanned contact data in a newsletter distribution list, we recommend obtaining separate consent from visitors in advance or informing them afterwards and then obtaining confirmation.
